In this painting I wanted to explore the messy business of waking up. We’ve all got our ways of getting going, both helpful and in the long run probably a little hurtful. Rituals, though, have an importance as messy as they may be. They organize our days, provide stability and get us where we need to be going. A beautiful but necessary mess? Look closely and they may seem haphazard, sad or unhealthy. From a distance though. Is that beauty?
